Well one night anyway… The hubby and I were able to sneak off for a one night mini vacation this past weekend (our first night away in years!). A friend suggested that I use http://www.vrbo.com to find somewhere unique to stay. I decided on an adorable houseboat in Providence, RI.
We said goodbye to Grandma and the kids, threw our bags in the car and we were off. Our first stop was at my favorite cupcake shop, The Queen’s Cups in Millbury, Ma to grab a snack for the drive.
When we arrived at the marina, the owner of the boat Neil greeted us and helped us with our bags. He showed us around our boat and also gave us a tour of a yacht he is in the process of redoing. The marina is in a great location within walking distance to lots of great shops, restaurants and attractions. We took a stroll to find some lunch. After we had a bite to eat I convinced the hubby we should get pedicures to relax! As my daughters say “Real men get pedicures!”. We finished our day by relaxing on the boat, going out to dinner and picking up dessert at a fabulous café. It was really nice to be able to take our time, talk, poke through the shops, eat together, not follow a schedule and just reconnect. Over brunch the next morning we made a deal that we would try get away once every 6 months and live on a house boat someday…
